Special Terms Glossary

Advanced Mode of Edge Calculation: means that you're required to set specific edge type for each part side and accordingly the machine on which this edge will be processed. It is set in «Program parameters:» window, «General» tab. One should remember that this option operates for all projects. For calculating project in standard mode of edge calculation delete mode label and vice versa.

Base: distance from sheet side to first saw cut. It ensures the blank's perpendicularity.

Blank: blank for part. It may have sizes, which differ from part-finished sizes.

Completion: if there is a space left on sheet layout and a blank having sizes less than space can be located there then is marked to be completed. Completion is done by saw cut workers separately for each blank.

Correction algorithm: formula describing process which correct part sizes.

Cut Type: the way of cutting sheet: «Rip» - the first saw-cut is done along the sheet long side (X). «Cross» - the first saw-cut is done along the sheet short side. «Rip-cross» - the first saw-cut is done along the sheet side where yield percentage is more. Several cut types can give different yield percentage in one and the same project. So to achieve maximum yield percentage try to calculate project by three ways and choose the best one.

Cutting: the process of creating sheet layouts from out of sheets.

Edge: part face side. Each part has four edges. Each of edges can be banded with some edge material.

Edge allowance: size to which it's necessary to decrease (increase) part finished sizes for getting the required blanks. (Used only in standard mode of edge calculation)

Edge material: lineal material. It may have different thickness and the way of banding.

Finished Sizes: part real sizes with banded edges.

Losses: sawdust, dust after cutting, base and rectangle pieces less than X-waste, Y-waste.

Optimization method: this concept is exists in the Program to improve yield percentage of fit blanks. There are three optimization versions: 1 - «No» - without completion; 2 - «Completion 1» - completion is done after band formation on sheet layout; 3 - «Completion 2» - completion is done after creating sheet layout.

Part (Furniture Part): finished part with banded (if necessary) edges.

Pattern: sheet color and sheet texture.

Project: list of parts and description of ways of their processing and some additional information.

Saw-cut width (Cut thickness): the thickness of saw, which «Sheet» is cut out for «Blanks», is assumed to be «Saw-cut width».

Sheet: resource for manufacturing parts. A sheet has rectangle shape and its sizes are given in «Sheet List». Usually X dimension is assumed as one along the long side.

Sheet layout: drawing of blanks location on sheet.

Standard Mode of Edge Calculation: the same type of edge material and the same banding machine will be used for all part sides to be banded.

Technological Allowance: percentage allowance for the use of edge material. It serves for precise calculation of the required quantity of edge material.

Waste: things left after cutting sheet layouts. There are two types of waste in the Program: utilizable (waste pieces) and losses. Waste pieces are saved in waste base and can be used in new projects as sheet.

Waste pieces: rectangle pieces with dimensions more and equal to X-waste, Y-waste.

Yield Percentage (Yeld): ration of parts finished area to sheets area.
